[00:11.42] She hunted for a book in the airport shops, [00:14.72] bought a bag of cookies and found a place to drop. [00:18.42] She was engrossed in her book but happened to see that the man sitting beside her, [00:23.87]as bold as could be, [00:25.41]grabbed a cookie or two from the bag in between, [00:28.90] which she tried to ignore to avoid a scene. [00:31.95] So she munched the cookies and watched the clock, [00:35.46] as the gutsy cookie thief diminished her stock. [00:39.51]She was getting more irritated as the minutes ticked by, [00:43.99] thinking, “If I wasn’t so nice, [00:46.48] I would blacken his eye.” [00:48.37] With each cookie she took, [00:50.56] he took one too. [00:52.09] When only one was left, [00:54.40]she wondered what he would do. [00:56.57] With a smile on his face, [00:58.40]and a nervous laugh, [01:00.00]he took the last cookie and broke it in half. [01:03.47] He offered her half, [01:05.05]and he ate the other. [01:07.00]She snatched it from him and thought... oooh, brother. [01:10.47] This guy has some nerve and he’s also rude. [01:14.07] Why he didn’t even show any gratitude! [01:17.12] She had never known when she had been so galled [01:20.75]and sighed with relief when her flight was called. [01:24.12]She gathered her belongings and headed to the gate, [01:27.95]refusing to look back at the ingrate thief. [01:31:65]She boarded the plane, [01:33.19] and sank in her seat. [01:34.83] Then she sought her book, [01:36.93]which was almost complete. [01:38.89] As she reached in her baggage, [01:40.55] she gasped with surprise. [01:42.83]There was her bag of cookies, [01:44.90]in front of her eyes. [01:46.55] If mine are here, [01:48.39]she moaned in despair, [01:50.27] the others were his, [01:51.76]and he tried to share. [01:53.44]Too late to apologize, [01:55.64]she realized with grief, [01:57.60]that she was the rude one, the ingrate, the thief. [02:01.65]How many times in our lives have we absolutely known [02:05.91]that something was a certain way, [02:08.00] only to discover later that what we believed to be true...was not? |
