查尔斯王子遭英国民众抵制,继任王位基本无望
Young people do not want Prince Charles to become king - with 63% wanting the throne to skip straight to William, research has found. A poll by Prospect Magazine , featured exclusively in the Mirror, also shows that a fifth of people would be less supportive of the monarchy if Charles was king. The statistics are another blow for Charles after recent polling has also shown that the public is still unwilling to accept his wife Camilla as queen. The couple are facing increased negativity from the public as Diana is remembered ahead of the 20th anniversary of her death later this month. The ICM Unlimited poll of 2012 people found that 46% want William to be king when The Queen dies, rising to 63% among 18 to 24-year-olds and 55% among women. In contrast, just 38% want Charles to be king , falling to 18% among 18-24-year-olds. The magazine devotes its September issue to the future of the monarchy with a front cover asking: “The last king?” How Charles III could bring down the monarchy.” The survey was carried out from 28th to 30th July, before Channel 4 broadcast their controversial documentary on August 6 featuring Princess Diana talking candidly about her life as a royal. During the tapes, recorded in 1992 and 1993 as her marriage to Charles was breaking down, she described how she was “traumatised” when he infamously said “whatever ‘in love’ means when asked if they were in love during their 1981 engagement interview. |
