杭州保姆纵火案放火者莫焕晶被执行死刑
Mo Huanjing, a nanny who set a fire causing the death of a mother and three children, was executed last Friday morning, according to the People's Procuratorate of Zhejiang. Mo deliberately set the fire in an upscale apartment in Hangzhou on June 22, 2017. She planned to put it out to gain favor from her employer Zhu Xiaozhen with the hope she would help repay her gambling debts. Instead, the fire spread too quickly, prompting her to flee the apartment. Zhu and her three children, aged 6 to 11, died in the blaze. Mo Huanjing was convicted and sentenced to death in early February. Her appeal was rejected by the Zhejiang Provincial Higher People's Court in June. Mo's execution was approved by the Supreme People's Court and was conducted under the supervision of prosecutors. |
