英美即将启动疫苗分配
COVID vaccine distribution The UK is poised to become the first western country to approve a COVID-19 vaccine, with its independent regulator set to grant approval within days. Deliveries of the vaccine developed by BioNTech and Pfizer would begin within hours of the authorization, according to government officials. The first injections could take place starting Dec 7. Vaccines would normally be authorized by the European Medicines Agency until the end of the Brexit transition on Dec 31. However, the UK's Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency has the power to temporarily authorize products, in cases of urgent public need. An emergency US approval could come as soon as Dec 8-10, with shipments across the country starting within 24 hours of the announcement, according to US media reports. The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, established by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, will meet on Tuesday to vote on how a coronavirus vaccine will be given out when one is approved. |
