Fog lifted early. I worked in the garden.

Hummingbirds were stopping over the honeysuckle flowers.

There was nothing on earth I wanted to possess.

I knew no one worth my envying him.

Whatever evil I had suffered, I forgot.

To think that once I was the same man did not embarrass me.

In my body I felt no pain.

When straightening up, I saw blue sea and sails.

多么美好的一天!晨雾早早地散去了，我在花园里干活。

蜂鸟歇在忍冬花上面。

尘世间没有什么我想占有，

我知道没有谁值得我去艳羡。

所有我遭受的不幸已过眼云烟。

想到我依然是过去的那个人，我并不因此感到窘迫。

在我身上痛楚全无。

挺起身来，我看见碧海蓝天，白帆隐现。

切斯瓦夫•米沃什 (Czesław Miłosz, 1911-2004), 是1980年诺贝尔文学奖得主，在二十世纪波兰文坛中颇负盛名。虽然他并不为众多中国读者所熟知，但他许多作品均被翻译成英文并广为流传，为人捧读称赞。
