Brad Pitt is not going to engage in a nasty custody battle with Angelina Jolie. In his first extensive interview since the power couple's highly-publicized divorce, Pitt told GQ Style he will not let things get ugly in court over the couple's six children. "I just refuse," he said. "And fortunately my partner in this agrees. It's just very, very jarring for the kids, to suddenly have their family ripped apart." The stars shocked fans in September 2016 when Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt after two years of marriage and more than ten years as a couple. There was much speculation as to what was going to happen to their kids: 15-year-old Maddox, 13-year-old Pax, 12-year-old Zahara, 10-year-old Shiloh and 8-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox. In the wake of the break up, Pitt was the subject of an investigation over a family incident which occurred on a private plane during a family trip. (皮特当时涉嫌在夫妻二人的私人飞机上对他们的一个或多个孩子进行了言语和身体上的攻击。皮特对此表示否认。) It was later closed with no charges but he faced a series of obstacles from Child Services in a bid to regain access to his six children. Now in his first interview since the shock separation, he reveals he is tee-total, is in therapy and says his family has been 'ripped apart', conceding: 'I hit the lottery and I still would waste my time on those hollow pursuits.' 'I can’t remember a day since I got out of college when I wasn’t boozing or had a spliff, or something. 'I mean I stopped everything except boozing when I started my family. But even this last year, you know - things I wasn’t dealing with.' The Fight Club star has quit alcohol since the incident, admitting it had become a 'problem' during his life with Angelina. He has now replaced boozing with therapy, adding: 'You know, I just started therapy. I love it. I love it. I went through two therapists to get the right one.' 'I was boozing too much. It just become a problem. And I’m really happy it’s been half a year now, which is bittersweet, but I’ve got my feelings in my fingertips again. He told GQ Style that the split was 'self-inflicted' and when asked if the last few months had felt like he was grieving a death, he simply replied: 'Yeah.' Explaining his life in the weeks after Jolie filed for divorce, Pitt says he was too devastated to return to his home in Beverly Hills and needed to get away. He slept on a friend's floor for six weeks as he tried to cope with the loss of his relationship and family homelife. Alongside his bombshell revelation that his drinking damaged his relationship, the actor says that he spent too much time away from his children working on films. 'I say that as someone who's let the work take me away. Kids are so delicate,' he explains. 'They need to have their hand held and things explained. They need to be listened to. When I get in that busy work mode, I'm not hearing. I want to be better at that.' |
