商场举办少儿“维密秀”遭批
People have lashed out at a Chinese shopping mall after it hosted a catwalk show for young girls wearing skimpy lingerie in southwest China. Pictures posted online show child models walking in bikinis with dramatic accessories including a pair of giant angel wings. Social media account 'Tianfusanjie' reported that a shopping mall in Chengdu, China's Sichuan Province carried out a Victoria's Secret-like fashion show on August 5. The event has caused an outcry online where web users condemned the organisers for provoking the sexual image of underage girls. Young girls can be seen dressed in two-piece lingerie along with decorations such as feathers and gems. With full-on makeup and their hair done, the models looked confident on the catwalk while the audience took snaps of them. One girl can be seen wearing a yellow triangle bikini top and a matching bottom in gemstones. Most of the young girls were given a massive headpiece and a pair of angel wings or a long train. It's unclear how old the girls are but the show has sparked controversy on Weibo. Web users accused the show for sexualising underage girls with the image of Victoria's Secret's models. 'Feliciaaaaa' asked for children to be given their right to be children. Another web user 'BTS_PJM_' worried that there were paedophiles watching the show and warned the parents to protect their children. Another asked: 'What kind of parent sends their daughters to this?' Five months ago, American lingerie brand, Victoria's Secret, made its first step into the Chinese market opening its first full store in Shanghai. The lingerie brand sells its products using sexy images of models with svelte figures that attracts millions of fans across the globe. In China, there have been a lot of similar fashion shows copying Victoria's Secret's style with feathery wings and flashy accessories. However, this lingerie show has upset a lot of parents online. One parent said: 'If I have a daughter, I would definitely not allowed her to go on shows like this.' Most web users expressed their anger as they thought the fashion show had misinterpreted the meaning of childhood. |
