The old adage goes that children say the funniest things sometimes. But they also come out with the most sinister statements too, according to a Reddit discussion where babysitters have revealed the creepiest thing a child has ever said to them in the absence of their parents. From threatening violence to seeing ghosts and predicting their deaths, some posters were left understandably terrified by the macabre statements of their charges. In less than 24 hours, over 2,200 people have commented on the thread and revealed their most shocking stories. One user recalled babysitting after two little girls who were easy to look after, but used to make her promise that the 'white man' wasn't going to look at them while they were sleeping. The babysitter eventually asked the father about what they might be talking about. His not very reassuring reply was that it was nothing to worry about, they were just talking about the ghost who lived in the house with them. Another babysitter encountered alarmingly threatening behaviour from a six-year-old boy he used to look after, who acted like a 'saint' around his parents. Yet he would get close to his sitter's face and angrily say that he was going to pull out all of his eyelashes one by one if he didn't allow him to watch a film on TV. Colieoh took to Reddit to say that a little girl once said she didn't want to go upstairs alone as there might be a man in her room. The babysitter said it was probably her father checking up on her. 'She said no because this guy was tall and skinny and her dad was short and fat,' she explained.
The creepiest thing she did though, was tell the babysitter 'your master wishes to see you in the pit' before turning and skipping away. Another Redditor said that they were watching a horror film when the child came downstairs, looked the babysitter dead in the eyes, and said: 'Do you want to die?' Without hesitation, they told the youngster to go back to bed but when they put the film back, on a little boy around the same age uttered the same words to their mother on the screen. It wasn't the only mention of death, as another babysitter recounted the time a little girl pointed her finger at her and said 'You're going to die on May 27th'. She never clarified what year this unfortunate happening was due to take place. Babysitters also spoke about how a lot of children saw imaginary people, with one boy staring at a wall and when told to lie down, said: 'Don't talk to him while we're playing.' One little girl complained that she needed to go home when she was already in her house. When the babysitter asked her what she meant, she simply sat up, stared at the babysitter for a few seconds and then slowly pointed towards the ceiling. |
