连词and的多种意义：你了解多少？

英语学习者最先接触到的连词，恐怕非and莫属。它用于连接单词或句子中的并列部分，有“和、与、同”之义。总结起来，and主要有以下几种用法：

表语义增补：He has two books and three pens.

表转折：She is Jack of all trades and master of none.

表顺序：He came in and took his coat off.

表因果：The girl couldn't find her mother and began to cry.

表结果：Try again and you will succeed.

表对比：Lily likes music and Lucy is fond of reading.

表评注：She always looks down on others, and I don’t like this.

表目的：She will come and see me tomorrow. （主要用于go, come,try,stay等动词前，代替to）

表“加上”：2 and 2 makes 4.

表反复或连续：She tried and tried but failed.

表差别：I like city life but there are cities and cities.

还需要注意的是，  “good/nice/fine + and + 形容词 （或副词）” 是一个强调句式，常用于口语。good/nice/fine + and有“很，非常”的意思，相当于 very 的作用。例如：

My bedroom is nice and warm. 我的卧室很温暖。（不是“我的卧室又好又温暖”。）
