星巴克咖啡要额外征收5便士的税?原因震惊到我了
Starbucks will charge customers 5p for using paper cups in its 950 stores in Britain in an attempt to reduce single-use paper and plastic waste. From Thursday July 26, customers who bring in a reusable cup for their hot drink will get a 25p discount. However, those that ask for a paper cup will lose out on the 25p saving and will also be charged a 5p 'latte levy'. The move comes after a successful three-month trial in London, which saw a 126 per cent increase uplift in the use of reusable cups. 'The three-month trial across 35 London stores showed encouraging results and we now want to test the possible impact of a 5p cup charge on a mass scale', a spokesperson said. 'We will monitor the roll out across Britain closely and will be sharing the results widely, before deciding on any permanent charges.' It also follows the announcement yesterday that it would eliminate plastic drinking straws in its stores globally within two years. To carry out this change, Starbucks will make a strawless lid or alternative material straw options available for certain drinks at more than 28,000 stores. The strawless lid is already available in over 8,000 stores in the US and Canada for select beverages. |
