Creation/Destruction （1）

    1） Did you watch the new office building being built？

    你看过在建设中的新的办公楼吗？

    * office 之后之所以接 being built，主要因为是指“在建设中”。

    2） The racer's car burst into flames just as he had crawled out.当赛车手爬出车子后不久，汽车就爆炸燃烧了起来。

    * burst 是爆炸的意思，有强调其突然和猛烈的作用。

    3） Insecticides destroy many harmful bugs.杀虫剂能驱除许多害虫。

    * destroy 是被灭尽、扑灭，和 damage 等不同，具有完全破坏之意。

    4） The young wheat sprouted quickly after the rain.雨后，新鲜的麦芽迅速的长了出来。

    * sprout 用于指植物长出新芽。

    e.g. Brussels sprout.  芽孢。

    5） Eugene could create beautiful images with his paints.尤金能够把美丽的形象用画笔画出来。

    6） Slowly, mountains are worn away by the wind.山体逐渐被风化了。

    * 使用 wear 表示疲倦时，可以用“I'm worn out.”表达。

    7） The chemist discovered a new synthetic material.化学家发现了新的复合物质。

    * discover 除了 find out 以外，也有“知道”的意思。

    e.g. I discovered I was wrong.我知道我错了。（这是一个常用句）

    8） Don't drop that bottle on the floor.别让那只瓶子掉到地上。

    9） He uses clay to form images of people.他利用粘土造各种的人像。

    * organize, construct, constitute 等和 create 具有同样意思，但并不含有创造性的意义。
