China's first "share fridge", or a community fridge with food available freely, appeared in Puxiongxinyuan residential community in Putuo District, Shanghai on Sunday. The fridge is stocked with cakes and canned food from nearby markets and restaurants for people to freely enjoy, reported by thepaper.cn.

据澎湃新闻报道，我国首个“分享冰箱”周日（10月9日）现身上海市普陀区长寿街道普雄馨苑社区。冰箱里装满了附近酒家、超市等热心企业提供的点心、罐头等食物供人们免费享用。

The share fridge was founded with the intention of giving away excess food to poorer families, so that the family can save the money to use for education or medical care. The program also promotes the "cherish food" principles, seeking to reduce the food waste phenomenon.

设立分享冰箱是为了把富余的食物分给贫困家庭，让这些家庭把钱省下来用于教育或医疗。该项目同时也是为了宣传“珍惜食物”的理念，减少食物浪费的现象。
