Cameron Diaz has been named as the star best suited to reprise the role of singing nun Maria in enduring musical The Sound of Music--by the film's original star. Dame Julie Andrews tipped the blonde actress as her replacement at a question and answer session marking the movie's 40th anniversary.
She says of her own casting in 1965: "There are hundreds of other ladies who sing just as well or better than I do and I was the lucky one who got asked." |
