1.allow

(1)   allow sb. to do sth.

Mother allowed me to go out last night.

Teachers don’t allow students to talk in class.

(2)   allow doing

They don’t allow smoking.

No one allows smoking.

(3)be allowed to do sth.

Students should be allowed to make decisions for themselves.

I am allowed to play games every day.

No one was allowed to have a rest just now.

4. agree to, agree with

agree 可用作不及物动词，也可用作及物动词，汉译都是“同意”，但实际含义不同。作不及物动词时，agree to 为参加者对提议表示同意，agree with 指两个人或两个人以上的人协调一致，持同一意见，agree on 是双方商定。例如：

He agreed to my plan.
他同意了我的计划。
Do you agree to this arrangement?
你同意这个安排吗？

I agree with you.
我同意你的意见。
I agree with/to what you said.
我同意你说的。
Both sides agreed on these terms.
双方都同意这些条件。

agree 作为及物动词，后可接从句、不定式，是“愿意”、“答应”、“认为”的意思。agree 是与 on 连用，后接动名词，也是“愿意”、“答应”、“认为”的意思。例如：

We agreed that he would go.
我们答应他去。
I agreed to help you with the work.
我愿意帮你做这一工作。
He agreed to come on Friday.
他答应星期五来。
He agreed on coming on Friday.

5.get in the way of …妨碍，阻碍

Can technology get in the way  of Learning?

Playing basketball can get in the way of my study.

6.spend的用法

(1)spend可用于“spend time/money+on+名词”或“spend time/money+（in）+动词-ing短语”。

 She spends half her money on clothes.她把一半钱花在衣服上。

She spends her whole life (in) looking after children.她的一生都用来照料孩子了。

(2)spend 可以表示“度过”

I should be allowed to spend time with my friends.
